Endless RPG for D&D Now Supports Custom Bosses and Dynamic Encounters
The toolbox for dungeon masters and solo-play D&D has some new options
Endless RPG is focused on allowing people to play D&D as a solo play experience or as a group without a dedicated Dungeon Master. In order to provide more flexibility in the type of adventures Endless RPG can help automate, two new features have been added over the past few months that add more dynamic options.
Build a Random Map for D&D With a Primary, Secondary and Boss Enemy
The core map builder has supported having both a primary and a secondary enemy since the big 2.0 update, but now Endless RPG supports choosing your own boss enemy as well.
This opens up a whole new dimension in flexibility when building random maps. While it is easy to tell the story of an orc lord and their army of orcs, what about an enchanter (boss encounter) who charms a group of ogres (secondary) to force a local band of orcs (primary) to search an unholy crypt for a lost artifact?
The boss option is extended to most encounter groups even if it doesn’t exactly make sense. Hey, who says a giant centipede (boss) can’t command an army of goblins (primary) and worgs (secondary)?
Roll Up Custom D&D Encounters Without a Map
The encounter system is now available outside of the random maps. The new custom encounters allow you to roll up encounters of various sizes (wandering, small, normal, hard, etc.) and even roll up characters with a boss. You can also roll up custom treasure along with your encounters.
Endless RPG currently supports over 200 encounter groups (orcs, goblins, ogres, etc.) of which over 35 “advanced” groups that can level in a class, so you can encounter an orc necromancer, goblin shaman (druid), duergar rogue, or a monk mercenary.
And most enemies within an encounter can have various augments such as being big (more hit points), small (less hit points), strong (more melee damage), precise (bonus to attacks) and even more exotic augments such as being under the effects of a bless spell or being a dented clockwork.
To support more dynamic play, a host of new encounter groups have been added including “basic” groups such as worgs or piercers to help fill in the blanks.
